I am a dedicated mother, inherently assuming the role of a teacher in my daily life. Proficient in three languages – Mi’gmaw, French, and English – I navigate the realms of education with a passion for positive change. My heart beats with activism, fueled by the belief that our world can evolve through purposeful teaching.
As a philosopher and researcher, I revel in envisioning and implementing theories, finding fulfillment in the continuous journey of trial and error. I hold the conviction that everyone, whether learner or teacher, possesses unique gifts awaiting nurturing amid the mud and water of our splendid natural landscape.
Currently, I contribute my expertise to Alaqsite’w Gitpu School as a Mi’gmaw Immersion Educator/teacher. Prior to this, I worked in curriculum as Curriculum Planner with the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government’s education directorate which spanned from April 2018 to August 2019. I am a strong believer in networking and visioning with fellow educators to achieve ‘Nnu culturally responsive best practices and curriculum.
Before embarking on my educational journey, I thrived as an entrepreneur, owning and operating a successful photography studio for 11 years. My love for language ignited my decision to return to school, driven by the desire to contribute to reshaping education within our First Nation community. This transformation aims to address the needs of Mi’gmaw children, fostering healing from the enduring impact of colonization and embedded trauma in our lives today.
